Horne Lake Caves, Vancouver Island,
B.C. Canada
2008 Caving Programs
Have a look UNDER Vancouver Island
and see amazing crystal formations and ancient fossils. Climb
an underground waterfall! Visitors to this unique park can
explore on their own or try one of the award-winning guided
tours. There is something for everyone with visits that range
from easy Family Cave Tours to the extreme "Underground Rappel" expeditions offered at
various times throughout the year.
PRE-TRIP PLANNING -
The caves at Horne Lake are largely undeveloped. In keeping
with the natural theme, none of the caves have permanent
lighting or sidewalks and the floors are rocky and uneven. The
tours are NOT for children under 5. Due to the terrain, the very elderly or those with limited
mobility may have difficulty on the trails or in the caves.
The temperature inside the caves is cool (8 degrees Celsius or 48 degrees
Fahrenheit) even when the weather is hot and sunny so please
bring warm clothes and sturdy boots or running shoes. Cameras
are welcome!
