HORNE LAKE CAVES PROVINCIAL PARK    

Cave Guide / Park Operator - Full time - May to Sept. $10 to $12/hr.
Lead guided cave tours including school geology programs and family tours in Horne Lake Caves Provincial Park. Respond to park visitors requests for information or assistance. Park Operator duties include enforcing the Park Act and park maintenance duties. Provide first aid and emergency response. Must pass Cave Guide certification course. 

“High Adventure” Cave Guide Full time - May to Sept. $13 to $16/hr.
This position includes all regular cave guide duties but also offers the opportunity to lead 5 hour vertical caving expeditions. Must also instruct outdoor climbing and rappelling clinics for groups and families. Must have documented experience and training in climbing / rescue. Must obtain Vertical Cave Guide Certification.

Visitor Info Centre Staff Full time - July to Sept. $10 to $12/hr.
Operate provincial park Visitor Centre and coordinate guided tour scheduling. Greet and inform park visitors. Equipment rentals, retail sales, and recording stats. Liaison with BC Parks, guiding staff, and park volunteers. Minor park maintenance and Park Act enforcement. Provide first aid and emergency response.

 

HORNE LAKE OUTDOOR CENTRE

Camp Counsellor / Instructor Full time position - May to Oct. $10 to $12/hr.
Conduct School Adventure Camp programs for children aged 8 - 17. Will also lead school groups on various outdoor education programs ranging from 2 to 3.5 hours per session. Water and land based activities include rappel training, top rope climbing, cave exploring, canoeing, orienteering, wilderness navigation & survival, team games, nature crafts, and campfire stories and songs. Canoe Instructor or Lifeguard certification definitely an asset. Additional training provided for Outdoor Center Instructors 

PLUS All the rockclimbing, cave exploring, camping and outdoor living you can handle.
Legendary staff events, super people, and great experience in a spectacular work environment.

  • All applicants must possess valid first aid certificate.
  • Previous guiding or group leadership experience preferred.
  • Must pass BC Parks Cave Guide certification exam
  • Additional training required for Outdoor Center Instructors

ADMINISTRATION & RESERVATIONS OFFICE

Office and Retail Manager- Full Time, April to Oct $12.00 - $14.00/hr

Liaison with managers, staff, park hosts, and clients on a daily basis. Display exceptional teamwork, mentoring and supervisory skills. Respond to park visitor inquiries by phone and email. Manage daily schedules, reservations systems, purchasing, and inventory systems for retail stock. This demanding position requires a person who can work independently in a high paced environment where multi tasking is key. 

Successful Applicants will possess the following:

  • Valid first aid certificate

  • Previous retail / customer service experience 

  • Scheduling, inventory systems, and cash management experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • An affinity for numbers and complex logistics

  • All Employees responsible for own food and accommodations (ie. tent / camper)

  • Completion of 3-day orientation is on a volunteer basis

Campground Office & Reservations Assistant- Full Time, June to September $10 - $11.50/hr

Deliver office excellence in a park setting. Check in guests and maintain reservation system. Respond to park visitor inquiries by phone, email in a timely and professional manner. Retail sales and canoe / kayak rentals. Daily bike runs through campground and a host of other "outdoor missions".

PLUS All the swimming, hiking, camping and outdoor adventures you can handle. Great staff events, super people, and great experience in a spectacular work environment.

  • Applicants must possess valid first aid certificate.

  • Previous retail / customer service experience preferred

  • Employees responsible for own food and accommodations (ie. tent / camper)

  • Completion of 3-day orientation is on a volunteer basis

FACILITY MAINTENANCE AND SECURITY

Campground Maintenance and Security- Full Time, June to September $12.00 - $14.00/hr

Liaison with, staff, park hosts, and clients on a daily basis. Display exception teamwork skills. Respond to park visitor inquiries and concerns within a timely manner. Enforce park regulations  This demanding position requires a person who is a self starter that can work independently. Ensure projects are completed with other members of the maintenance and security team. 

Successful Applicants will possess the following:

  • Valid first aid certificate

  • Driver's licence and own transportation required

  • Previous experience in carpentry and small engine repair an asset

  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems with little or no supervision

  • Employees responsible for own food and accommodations (ie. tent / camper)

  • Completion of 3-day orientation is on a volunteer basis
